Focused and hard at work..as always |
This is how she is probably best remembered by all who worked with her – focused and hard at work.
As head of case management Rietsie Badenhorst said at her farewell, Ipeleng appeared unshakable in the face of a crisis, always willing to offer a helping hand. “It did not matter what happened you could go to Ipeleng and know the person who was going to greet you when you go there,” Rietsie said.
And this was the view expressed by her colleagues.
But it also appears Ipeleng’s stoic good naturedness extended beyond the workplace.
If you are looking for someone to get drenched in the rain with you TWICE, then Ipeleng is your “person”.
Karissa recalls a humorous story regarding a training course the two attended in Zambia.
“We had just got off the plane in Livingstone (Zambia) and we had no courses that afternoon so I asked Ipeleng to please come with me to see Victoria Falls. The weather looked a bit threatening and Ipeleng looked at the sky with a bit of skepticism, but after I pleaded with her, she agreed reluctantly to walk to the falls. Well the heavens opened and we got totally drenched.”
“The next day we were told there was a guided walk to the falls. Again I approached Ipeleng to accompany me. It took a bit of convincing, but she agreed to go back to the falls – only to get completely drenched the second time!”
A happy snap of an unsuspecting Ipeleng
before the walk.

BUT THEN THE HEAVENS

“I have to say, she was a total trooper,” Karissa said with a grin.
